Respected Sir, With due regards I am pleased to introduce myself as Laxman SinghKandari. I am Postgraduate in Forestry and D.Phil. in Plant Physiology entitled "Ecophysiological and Socioeconomic Studies of Some Rhizomatous Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Species," at HNBGarhwal University, Srinagar Uttaranchal, India. This research was carried out
on four rhizomatous medicinal plants of i e., Angelica glauca, Arnebia benthamii, Rheum emodi and Pleurospermum angelicoides in Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve (NDBR), one of the mega biodiversity hot spot.
The research was focused on conservation of medicinal plants through development activities include seed biology, vegetative propagation,phytosociology study, cultivation of medicinal plants through simple
cost effective agrotechnology such as polyhouse, shadenet; assessment of biomass under different microclimatic conditions and soil analysis
i e., N.P.K carbon, soil moisture, pH, etc. The study also developed packages of practices for these four medicinal plants of high economic value.
Presently I am working as Project Manager in Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal under a prestigious International project with financial assistance from the International Tropical
Timber Organization (IITO) "Operational Strategy for Sustainable Forestry Development with community participation in India". The responsibility includes research, data collection, and capacity
building of stakeholders through different means. In course of my study and work I have developed the understanding of socio-economic of
tribal communities.
